Meet the Team

Karen Farley (they/their) – Co-Founder, Partnerships

Karen is the rare entrepreneur: passionate about social causes and a well-formatted spreadsheet. Co-founding Period Pin in 2023, Karen’s central role is shaping strategic growth while balancing the well-being of the communities they partner with. Karen is also a pioneering researcher on sustainable menstruation in Canada and founded several businesses in North America and Asia. They completed a master’s in sustainability management at the University of Waterloo, and hold bachelor’s degrees from Brunel University London and the University of KwaZulu-Natal.

Patrick Bosworth (he/him) – Co-Founder, Technology

Balancing data and visualizations comes naturally to Patrick who co-founded Period Pin in 2023. He collaborates closely with the Period Pin team to turn passion for menstrual equity into technology that empowers the mission and uplifts the menstruators it serves. Prior to Period Pin, Patrick built technology for a business he co-founded in Taiwan and designed computers and processes for Dell Technologies in Asia. He completed a master’s in sustainability management at the University of Waterloo and a bachelor’s in computer engineering at Wayne State University.

Vanessa Pereira (she/her) – Social Media

Vanessa is a business school graduate fueled by her commitment to social impact and sustainability who currently navigates the realms of climate tech and social media at Period Pin. She is an advocate for menstrual equity and envisions a future where the financial burden of period products is lifted, and open conversations around menstruation are the norm. She’s excited to be a part of the Period Pin team and help catalyze change.

Kelsey Benoit (she/they) – Partnerships

Kelsey has years of experience in the non-profit world, focusing on issues of equity and access. In her various roles, she has worked towards ensuring that resources and services are accessible to diverse groups. With a Bachelor of Social work from Lakehead University and a passion for making connections with community members, they are thrilled to put their skills to work with the Period Pin team to improve menstrual equity in Canada.
